André Hoffmann

André is a seasoned Telecommunications practitioner, having worked in the industry for more than

35 years. He has planned, built, operated and managed all tiers and segments of the network while

working for leading service providers in South Africa and Mauritius. He has a broad understanding of the

multi­faceted Information and Communications Technology service delivery chain and specialises in

leveraging high capacity optical fibre based technologies for the delivery of high capacity carrier class

networks and services. André is currently Executive of Special Projects at Link Africa and facilitates the

roll out and utilization of extensive metro optical fibre and fibre­to­the­home infrastructure across South

Africa.

André joined the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers in 1997. He was chairman of the KwaZulu-
Natal center in 2000 and was awarded SAIEE Engineer of the Year in 2001. Serving on the SAIEE

Council since 2005 André has chaired various committees and is a passionate supporter of the

development of engineering talent in South Africa. Andre was the SAIEE President for 2015/2016.

Andre has a National Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering and an MBA. André is registered with the

Engineering Council of South Africa as a Professional Technologist and is also a founder member of the

Robotics Association of South Africa and a member of the IEEE South Africa Section.
